A new cryptocurrency on which to bet?

Recently, ThePirateBay conducted an experiment to see if it could replace the advertisements that keep the site afloat with a new monetization scheme: using visitors’ browsers to mine cryptocurrency.

So, the webmasters has embedded the code for a cryptocurrency miner called Coin Hive in the footer of the site.

The code used a portion of the visitor’s CPU power to mine the privacy-oriented cryptocurrency Monero while the user was on the website.

With this event, the “Browser Miners” era starts, and from now a lot of new miners browser-oriented will born.

Among the many that are emerging, in my opinion JSECoin it is very interesting and innovative.

Why is so innovative?

Unlike other browser mining solutions, like Coin-Hive, JSECoin is a new cryptocurrency especially developed for browser mining.

For example Coin-Hive uses a WebAssembly porting of the CryptoNight algorithm in order to mining Monero, with performance that can be affected by browser versions.

JSECoin algorithm is written in plain javascript and optimized for browser mining.

Cryptography will be a way for website owners to monetize their content as an alternative to displaying ads. This may be preferable for sites where space is at a premium or banner advertising is not appropriate. It could also be used in conjunction with existing advertising methods as an additional revenue stream.

“Poor Quality” traffic which doesn’t earn ad revenue such as visitors from remote regions or some js enabled spiders could also be monetized for the first time. This could provide a foot in the door opportunity to test the program for larger media companies.

How it works?

Some info from the Official Whitepaper:

Cryptocurrencies currently rely on miners to carry out the cryptography hashing. Hashing is a mathematical equation that is carried out at large scale to secure a blockchain which is the underlying transaction database of a cryptocurrency. This process consumes huge amounts of computing power, server farms and electricity. Miners are rewarded for their efforts by the distribution of the currency.

It is possible to carry out SHA256 and other encryption in a standard web browser or on a mobile device. By embedding a javascript snippet on a website all visitors to the website could carry out the hashing encryption process which when combined at scale could replace the role of the miners. Website owners would then be rewarded by the distribution of the currency. We have estimated 1 in 15 people either own or have access to a website which provides a large distribution base of half a billion potential miners.

The code can be loaded as a post-page-load async process so it would not disrupt website performance and the user experience would not be affected. The hashing would run in the background, behind the scenes.

How can I integrate it into my site?

Owner of the website can adds a small snippet of the code in the website.

  • Go to the site and register.
  • Click on Publishers left sidebar
  • Type your website’s domain name
  • Click SETUP SITE button
  • After that you get a javascript code which you have to copy and paste into your website.

A wordpress plugin is also available:

  • Go to your wordpress plugin page, search “jsecoin”, install and activate the plugin.
  • On left sidebar, click JSECoin
  • Go to JSECoin website and obtain the javascript code snippet.
  • Paste the code in JSECoin plugin configuration and save.

How much is JSECoin worth?

It is a cryptocurrency, which hold a pre-ico value of 1JSE=1USD.

We are currently targeting an ICO in 2018. This date may change as it is dependant on external factors and investor demand.

After they pass ico phase and enter into market, value might be much larger.
At that point JSECoin could be exchanged for any other cryptocurrency or fiat.

Why should I use it?

This is a new cryptocurrency: the competition in the mining process is minimal and it is possible to accumulate a good quantity of JSECoins in a short time.
When (and if) the currency will enter the market, its value could increase considerably, turning it into a great investment.

Yes, it’s a big bet!
