It’s about to be Christmas, I’m feeling nice and i want to share four free arrangement of famous Christmas carols.
“Jingle Bells” is one of the best-known American Christmas songs in the world, written by James Lord Pierpont and published under the title “One Horse Open Sleigh” in the autumn of 1857.
Originally intended for the Thanksgiving season, it became associated with Christmas music and the holiday season in general decades after it was first performed on Washington Street in Boston in 1857.
Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht
“Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht” (In English: “Silent Night”) is a popular Austrian Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber.
The song has been recorded by a large number of singers from every music genre and it was declared a cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2011.
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
“We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is a popular English Christmas carol from the West Country of England, arranged by composer Arthur Warrell, for his own “University of Bristol Madrigal Singers”.
The arrangement was performed on December 6, 1935, and the same year was published by Oxford University Press, under the title “A Merry Christmas: West Country traditional song”.
El Noi de la Mare
El Noi de la Mare is a Catalan Christmas song: the title is Catalan for “The Child of the Mother”
One of the most famous arrangement of this tune is the Miguel Llobet‘s transcription for classical guitar: Andrés Segovia used to perform this transcription as an encore.
