After upgrading to Windows 10, the touchpad of my Lenovo G50–45 has lost a feature in my opinion very useful: the right click with the two-fingers tap.
In the new settings interface of the Synaptics driver, there is no option to enable this feature. However, is still possible enable this from the system registry:
- Open Registry Editor (Windows + R, type regedit and hit Enter)
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2TM28xx
- Change the value of 2FingerTapAction to 2
That’s all!
Thanks! Very useful – it works.
Following this exact same process, I find that I only have two files under
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadSMB2cTM3270-1
And neither are the 2FingerTapAction. Is it possible that I need to download different driver software in order to have the option for the 2FingerTapAction? I have a late 2017 Model HP Spectre x360 with the 19.3.31.31 version mice driver. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I just created a DWORD (32 bit) value and named it 2FingerTapAction in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadSMB2cTM3270-1 since my registry didnt have it already and set it to 2 as the fix suggested, restarted my computer and it worked.
I had the same problem too. I did this and it worked for me. Thanks Ife 🙂
You are a wizard!! Worked for me perfectly! Huge thanks!
Thanks, Evan. It was really helpful.
it has worked for me. I’ve changed the registry and rebooted my laptop.

Thank you! This works wonderfully. Was so frustrated at having to physically click on the very stiff right button.
thanks, it’s 2018 and it still usefull. Windows 10 Pro 1709 on an X230 (non tablet) with 19.0.17.115 driver. The option is available in the driver but it does not work neither changes the registry value. After changing value to 2 and restarting, two-fingers right-click is back !
Not worked
Man you saved me ! thanks a lot. I had been using Ubuntu on my Lenovo laptop for several years and switched back to W10 a couple months ago. I spent hours trying to figure out how to fix my right click issue !!!!
Thx u so much, it worked on Ideapad 320, Lenovo.
Worked like a charm!!
All I did was changed the value for all the 2 options that were displayed (not one in, my case), and rebooted.

Hello fantastic website! Does running a blog such as this require a
massive amount work? I have very little expertise in computer programming but I
was hoping to start my own blog in the near future. Anyway, if you have any recommendations or tips for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject nevertheless I simply needed to ask.
Appreciate it!
It doesn’t require a huge amount of work, but it’s important to maintain a certain constancy: write a little every day, maybe working on more posts at the same time and planning the publications.
Good luck with your blog!
Thank you so much. It worked like a charm after a restart.
